03.05.2022 After more than half a century of holding the West Bank under military occupation, Israelis are still divided over its future. Most support withdrawal as part of a peace deal with the Palestinians. Israel’s most important allies - and the international community as a whole - agree that the settlements are unlawful and must be removed. In such circumstances, there is no cause to believe that the land can no longer be divided. Taking a real look at what allows the settlements to keep going, instead of bowing to the myth of violent evacuation, reveals that the future of the West Bank and the settlements is in the hands of the Israeli public and its leaders. Where there is a will - there is a readily-available way.  read more

13.04.2022 “No, I do want to say what my approach is, my approach in this context is to Shrink the conflict. We will not resolve it... but wherever it is possible to have entries, more quality of life, more business, more industry, we will [encourage it – O.E]” said Israel’s Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in an interview with Amit Segal on the local Channel 12 News on the eve of his inauguration in June 2021. This was a short, casual statement—an aside in an interview that dealt with many other issues on the agenda. In fact, Bennett was not even asked about his position regarding the conflict and insisted on digressing due to the impatience of our interviewer toward the subject. Thus, Bennett tried to differentiate himself from “managing the conflict” — the approach of his predecessor, Benjamin Netanyahu — by offering a fresh, new approach.

Israel’s Security in a Two-State Reality
One reason many Israelis have lost faith in the feasibility of a two-state solution is fears over security. Molad’s latest study unpacks these concerns and shows that a Palestinian state will not jeopardize national security – in fact, it is the best way to ensure Israel’s long-term interests

Five takeaways from the Israeli elections
It’s easy to get confused by the whirlwind of post-election spins. Before engaging in the habitual self-flagellation, let’s pause over some truths: the settler right has failed to “settle in the hearts” of Israelis; we need more than a shiny campaign to win elections; courting the political center isn’t enough; Israel is split down the middle; and the way ahead starts with formulating a clear, consistent political identity

Keys to Resolving the Gaza Crisis
Why will the current cease-fire talks between Israel and Hamas in Gaza fail? How can Israel achieve long-term quiet on the Gaza front? And how are rockets on southern Israel connected to West Bank settlements? In a new position paper, Molad and Blue-White Future analyze the proposed cease-fire or ‘arrangement’ and conclude that the two-state solution must be revisited – especially in the Gazan context

All the vocal politicians, shrewd journalists, and keen researchers on the Israeli Right have failed to produce a single policy paper explaining what the ‘one state’ escapade is supposed to look like.

A right-wing hoax
The land-grab law is yet another right-wing attempt to use legislature to prolong the legal limbo of occupation. Israel has two options: annex and naturalize 2.7 million Palestinians in the West Bank, or reach an agreement with the Palestinians. Any other plan is public deception.

UNSC resolution: World placing price tag on settlements
The UN Security Council’s resolution is a direct response to right-wing policies in the Occupied Territories, which have placed Israel on a collision course with the world. We need responsible leaders who understand that the military occupation and settlements cannot continue without repercussions.

The Israeli Right has all the Power - but no Endgame
With Israel led by the most right-wing government in its history and a weak, fragmented opposition, the right is virtually free to carry out its program. So why is its decades-long vision of annexing the West Bank not really on the table?

Why are the military and diplomatic talks with Hamas being undermined?
In recent months, Israel-Hamas talks over releasing captives have broadened into negotiation of an agreement in the form of a long-term truce. Hamas’ political leaders need Israel and the PA in order to fight the movement’s military wing. However, the Fatah-Hamas split and Israel’s exploitation of it will continue to block diplomatic progress.

Public statements by Arab members of the Israeli parliament have grown more extreme over the last twenty years.
